Sanskrit[edit]

It originates probably from Sanskrit: vatula, in Bengali: batula. See http://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/cgi-bin/monier/serveimg.pl?file=/scans/MWScan/MWScanjpg/mw0935-vAtavat.jpg Root is je vata, meaning: wind. There are three doshas in ayurveda, one being vata, the wind, regulating movements in the body. It is connected with nerves and increased vata causes neurosis. Thus vatula means a disease, disorder of vata dosha. One of the meanings in Sanskrit is also fool. 178.149.128.87 18:55, 8 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
