I'm hearing claims on a studio recording discussion forum that this word has only been recently coined and ought not be used. The writer claimed that absorbent was more proper. I tend to disagree, but I'm cuious about any comments or links.

The word (deprecated template usage) absorbent typically refers to the soaking up on liquids, while absorptive can mean the soaking up of radiation or ability to withstand assault. --EncycloPetey 01:30, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
