Aquiline is frequently used with a sense contrary to its primary meaning: i.e. straight.
See, e.g., Winchester, Simon: The Professor and the Madman, HarperPerennial, 1999, p. 177. "Doctor Minor's nose looks a little hooked, Doctor Murray's finer and more aquiline."
The cover has a photograph (not the one referred to) of Doctor Murray, who is seen to have had a very straight nose.
