Conjugation Template: Present Continuous[edit]

There must be something wrong with the conjugation template. It produces the erroneous form *boşaıyorum for the Present Condtinuous tense, which means that it doesn't take into consideration that if — after removing the infinitive ending -mek / -mak — we are left with a vowel like a, e, o and ö, then the ı / i / u / ü of the -Iyor suffix replaces that vowel:

  • yemek → ye + iyor = yiyor (not *yeiyor)
  • demek → de + iyor = diyor (not *deiyor)
  • ödemek → öde + üyor = ödüyor (not *ödeüyor)
  • boşamak → boşa + ıyor = boşıyor (not *boşaıyor)

_______

PS: I also noticed that the future tense forms, marked in green, are also erroneous. There needs to be a buffer consonant [y] between the verb stem (boşa-) and the Future ending (-acak). Thus, boşayacak, not *boşaacak.

Thanks. The problem was that the wrong template was used – {{tr-conj}} instead of {{tr-conj-v}} (also for başlamak and suçlamak).  Fixed.  --Lambiam 10:29, 24 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
