The two homonyms meaning "buoy" and "shackle" apparently have different etymologies, and should probably be split. "Shackle" seems to derive more directly from Latin, while "Buoy" is from French, and possibly related to beacon. Wakuran (talk) 18:15, 20 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
