As far as i know celibacy means unmarried. That celibacy means abstinance is a misconception... someone clarify please.

This is also the way I use the word, and I know I'm not alone. I'm editing out the 'archaic' bit of the definition, because in my experience it's a dual usage word, with "unmarried" being a meaning falling out of fashion, but not gone. Gelasius 07:09, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
