Singular/plural[edit]
The definitions of this word now include one singular and two plural. I believe we should strive for the most accurate definitions possible, indicating the actual possible usages of this term (which may apparently be used to refer to singular or plural without modification of the word). 71.66.97.228 01:57, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Dictionaries simply do not do it that way. There are many languages that do not normally indicate number in their noun forms, or gender in their pronouns, but dictionaries for those languages never give definitions in English in the form of "leg/legs", "bandit/bandits", or "he/she/it/they". These are standard meanings of all words of that class, and are grammatical issues rather than dictionary issues.
- There are some words that include a special plural prefix, such as chodayoołʼįįhí, and they can only be plural, but unmarked nouns are unspecific with regard to number. —Stephen 04:35, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
