Use in Shakespeare

This word is used in Puck's monologue, in Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's" Dream" III ii 10 et seq. It is used as a disparaging comment about comedic, low class, human characters. They are not literally birds. I'm thinking there must be or have been some additional meaning to this word Skysong263 (talk) 15:37, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

I do not hear a t-like sound in the beginning - it sounds to me like "shuff" (or rather "shoff"...)?! --KnightMove (talk) 14:11, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
