178.138.34.74 10:38, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Are you sure this word is not of Slavic origin? Or are the Slavic cognates derived from it? I think the latter is more likely since its Aromanian cognate follows the meaning of the other Romance languages.Reply

If you understand Romanian, DER (1958-1966) presents the different theories and how plausible they are. What speaks against a Slavic origin is the isolation of this term in neighbouring languages – it basically lacks internal derivatives in each respective language thus suggesting it to be a borrowing. --Robbie SWE (talk) 16:40, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
