In historical contexts, e.g. in the works of Shakespeare, contemptible will be encountered in the sense ‘exhibiting or expressing contempt’ (e.g. The contemptible idea I always entertained of Cellarius— Gibbon, 1762), but this meaning is now obsolete. --Backinstadiums (talk) 17:43, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
