What is the process to ask for another audio ? I can't hear the ending on this one. It sounds like "deceive" to me. Bcent1234 (talk) 19:38, 8 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm assuming the audio has been changed since - it currently sounds like 'deceive-d' to me. Actually want to make note that the audio pronunciation also clearly sounds to me like /diːsiːvd/, not /dɪˈsiːvd/ (the latter similar to IPA /dɪˈsiːv/ given for 'deceive'). I've checked a few other online dictionaries that provide pronunciation and they have various 'short e' pronunciations for the first e, but none are the 'long e' /i:/ sound, even when giving a UK as well as US pronunciation. I'm curious how its been given this /diː-/ audio pronunciation, because that is the way I've always pronounced it. I asked my brother to say the word, and he gave it a 'short e', /diː-/ pronunciation, as well. I was left wondering how I ever acquired my 'peculiar' /diː-/ pronunciation, but now this similar audio pronunciation makes me wonder how many of us are out there. Regardless of my peculiar relationship to all this, the audio pronunciation should match the IPA transcription, which I believe it does not. Jauntymcd (talk) 19:14, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I should have said 'short i' (not 'short e') above, or maybe 'short vowel' pronunciations, as there was a few besides /dɪ'-/: main point was none were 'long e' /diː-/. Jauntymcd (talk) 19:37, 1 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
