Though the French is in all lowercase, it represent a devil (common noun) and the Devil (proper noun). Just so happens that Dieu is capitalized and diable isn't; presumably because of the status of the two deities in Christianity. Mglovesfun (talk) 21:01, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

- Really, it seems. Robert Burns's A Naval and Military Technical Dictionary of the French Language gives diable as a translation of "truck", and I found a cite which I've added to the entry. (A more informed check of my translation would be appreciated.)
- Disentagling the supernatural meaning is non-trivial without having a better idea what else to search for. I've tried adding "en bois" and "pousse", but it hasn't helped much.
