This is something I've wanted to bring up, actually--I've been breaking down prefix complexes like dini- into their components, but maybe I shouldn't for particularly common ones. Something for Wiktionary Talk:About Navajo? Ewweisser (talk) 22:53, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Possibly, yes (for WT:ANV). Generally speaking, my sense is that any common prefix combination that has taken on an idiomatic meaning might want to be presented as a discrete unit, with the individual component prefixes given on the entry page for that unit. For instance, I've noticed di- + ni- is described in a couple books as inceptive di- + terminative ni-, together meaning that the prefixed verb is in the act of beginning to happen. (From that interpretation, I took dinilchííʼ to mean "to begin to redden" -> "to be pink" [assuming the base state was white].) This dini- could thus be viewed as an idiomatic prefix combo, and might warrant having its own entry page. -- Eiríkr Útlendi │ Tala við mig 21:52, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
