Counterintuitive etymology[edit]

It’s interesting that ‘dutchie’ in the sense of a joint/spliff is from the original sense of a Dutch Masters cigar. I always assumed the term came about as an allusion to the cannabis culture of the Netherlands. I don’t doubt the etymology but I’d never even heard of ‘Dutch Masters’ cigars until now.
