The Middle Polish sense. It says "The meaning of this term is uncertain", but the citations list the word in a series of words from various languages, all meaning "day". I highly doubt this is a distinct sense from any of the other one's listed. Andrew Sheedy (talk) 23:37, 28 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I think this is the third time I've explained this. It has to do with the particular quoted work; the scribe often wrote senses where it seemed he was making a distinction as earlier you have that clear gloss, but then later not. Vininn126 (talk) 07:02, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK. Is there a better way we could present that information? It's clearly related to the "day" meaning. The template used in these entries has a parameter that allows one to list possible meanings. Could we use that? It's not overly helpful to users to pretend we have no idea what the term means. If it keeps coming up in RFD, that's a sign that there needs to be some sort of justification in the entry for keeping these senses. Andrew Sheedy (talk) 21:45, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Andrew Sheedy it doesn't keep coming up in RFD, but that's besides the point.
The problem with that "uncertain" template is how do we list "well it's day but also not"? I'm all ears, I'm just not sure how to handle this. Vininn126 (talk) 22:00, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
How about "similar to day"? Or perhaps "nuances uncertain, but approximate meaning is day"? Andrew Sheedy (talk) 23:17, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
In that case you would give
# {{|def-uncertain|pl}}
## [[day]] but we would want a little more detail. Vininn126 (talk) 09:55, 30 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

RFD-kept with the solution being {{def-uncertain|pl|nohypothesis=1|undetailed=1}} Vininn126 (talk) 22:56, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Does that work for you then? I was just about to ask if you were fine with that solution. I've also asked in the Grease Pit if that template could display the text differently, to make it easier to use for this kind of case. Andrew Sheedy (talk) 22:59, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Aside from the cosmetic issue you mentioned, this is more than fine by me. Vininn126 (talk) 23:02, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Perfect. Glad we could agree on something that works. Andrew Sheedy (talk) 03:18, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
