Second sense...how can something be "directed upward" but not be "vertical in position"? --Connel MacKenzie 06:39, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Very easily, most people would agree that anything that points between about 35° and 90° from horizontal points upwards, only 90° is vertical. The definition isn't brilliant, but it is needed. Thryduulf 07:55, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Well it isn't covered by any of the other definitions that are there at the moment, but it might be possible to merge it with the first def. Thryduulf 10:43, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

I think would merge the first and second definiitons as "upright, in a vertical orientation". The word position describes location relative to other objects, while orientation describes attitude, tilt, or relative direction. --EncycloPetey 20:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
