I suspect that this word should be just "Extravagance", at least in any normative sense. I believe that people say "extravagancy" when they mean "extravagance".

Thanks. This is a dated spelling from the 17th-19th centuries. It does not appear in either BNC (UK written) or COCA (US mixed), which have current usage. DCDuring TALK 18:04, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
