Merriam-Webster example sentence[edit]

Maybe this isn't the right place to ask, but I was confused about an example sentence posted at Merriam-Webster.com . [1]

The maladjusted lothario also has many a dalliance with a particular strain of misogyny: the cutting and manipulative digs at past lovers that some of the rapper’s fans rush to freebase.

Trying to make heads and tails out of it, the best explanation I could find is that it's a pun on the verb crack, which at least would make sense semantically (although I feel kinda sorry for the rapper's exes). Wakuran (talk) 13:19, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
