Quite clearly SOP. No lemmings, of course. There can be tons of gay-straight things and there can be tons of X-Y alliances too. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 19:21, 17 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The definition says it's specifically for "youth" (not older people), which may go beyond SoP, but barely. Equinox 07:41, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
It is true that it is specific to youth, especially American high schools, but I don't think that such restrictions on context of use are usually considered to make terms idiomatic. If the term only referred to similar alliances in the armed forces, the transport sector or sports, would it be considered idiomatic? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 18:25, 20 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Keep. Even though I know what "gay", "straight", and "alliance" mean, and even though I'm gay myself, I didn't know what a "gay-straight alliance" was the first time I heard it without having it explained to me. Maybe that's just because they didn't exist when I was in high school, and even when I was in college, there was only a Gay and Lesbian Students' Association, nothing that was branded as including straight allies. But the first time I heard the expression, I didn't immediately understand it despite knowing all three words, so it's more than SOP in my opinion. —Mahāgaja · talk 09:54, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Keep, per both of the comments above. Imetsia (talk) 12:50, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Keep. Before looking it up, I expected that the term would refer to any activism coordinated between gay and straight organizations or individuals, so IMO the meaning is non-obvious.  --Lambiam 13:25, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

RFD kept, because this is obviously going nowhere. I personally think the reasons for keeping want force to say the least, but votes are votes. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 09:59, 27 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
