Is this be a case ebonics perhaps? I found it in Audre Lorde's Zami: A New Spelling of My Name - unfortunately I didn't take down the full sentence nor the page...zigzig20s 18:38, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not ebonics. The pronunciation appears to be a dialect used by poor, illiterate whites in parts of Appalachia and parts of the South. The term is an old racial slur. This is an example of eye dialect. —Stephen 19:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
