We shouldn't use "some writers prefer" as it is too unspecific. Which writers? Perhaps they are also talkers! This type of usage information should be backed up by some references.Sonofcawdrey (talk) 14:20, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

It just needs a different heading. Changed to Synonyms. References are not required here as on Wikipedia. If you believe that jelly is not a synonym of jellyfish, you should bring this sense of jelly up on Wiktionary:Requests for verification, and then someone will determine whether it can have that sense. —Stephen (Talk) 18:34, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, that solution - while improving the entry, nonetheless does do away with the previous editor's contention that the term jellyfish is deprecated by some people (because jellyfish are not "fish" per se). However, as a Wiktionary newbie, I don't know how much of this type of usage information is generally wanted/allowed in this dictionary. (I wasn't actually querying the use of jelly to mean jellyfish; seems okay to me).Sonofcawdrey (talk) 09:52, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
