American commentators[edit]

Some American commentators dislike meantime as an adverb, and in the meanwhile. Both are standard, but much less common than meanwhile and in the meantime --Backinstadiums (talk) 17:13, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Etymology[edit]

What is meant by "Adverb is by ellipsis from in the mean while, noun being conventionally written as one word after the adjective." As far as I can see, there is no adjective involved? Furius (talk) 20:27, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
