Vocal tap[edit]

@Erutuon: regarding this edit – hmmm, we have been indicating this sort of pronunciation throughout the Wiktionary as it's quite distinctive of GA pronunciation. The OED indicates it with a /d/. Perhaps we should put it in brackets then? — SGconlaw (talk) 03:06, 23 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Sgconlaw: Yes, it is sometimes noted, but it should be in brackets because the tap is an allophone, not a phoneme. The reason why I just removed it rather than adding pronunciations in brackets is because there are already so many transcriptions, and this could be put at Waterloo (or readers could look at water) instead.
