Sole current cite is of another spelling from Chaucer, ie, ME, not English. DCDuring (talk) 12:18, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Forgive me for assuming, but couldn't this particular word easily be recoined separate from historical usage either as a nonce term in a novel or poetry, or just at random in certain situations? This is hardly a complicated term. Tharthan (talk) 15:21, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Let's see the attestation. DCDuring (talk) 15:58, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
Is it really obsolete, as it is labeled? DCDuring (talk) 16:33, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
I'm not saying that it is attestable in Modern English. I was just wondering if this is one of those terms that could be easily coined over and over again independently, due to the simplicity of word parts. Tharthan (talk) 22:46, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
It was in Chaucer and in Century 1911 and other dictionaries citing Chaucer. I don't suppose we should be surprised that it has had contemporary literary use, without the need for serial coinage. The upshot of the RfV is that we have a cited entry and can dispense with the 'obsolete' label. DCDuring (talk) 02:47, 27 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
