pargeting cf parging[edit]

[Relocated from user talk page.] I was going to make suitable changes - but will discuss! I believe that pargeting is decorative exterior plasterwork (it is common in my area of eastern England); whereas parging is plain - a completely (or almost so) surface. — Saltmarshσυζήτηση-talk 17:49, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Saltmarsh: OED defines parging as pargeting, and pargeting as having the two senses indicated by you above: (1) decorative plasterwork; (2) non-decorative, functional plasterwork, especially on the insides of chimneys. Perhaps you can try to find some quotations. — SMUconlaw (talk) 18:30, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think Bing image search shows what I mean (not attestation I know) parging and pargeting - I'll look for written evidence — Saltmarshσυζήτηση-talk 19:03, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Great. Our pargeting enry could do with some improvement, if you're minded to work on it. — SMUconlaw (talk) 19:08, 30 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
