Age of word[edit]

The play "Olâ Pisidénte" was first aired in the early 1990s, as a launch to the Dóci Papiaçám di Macau theatre group. What I'm not sure about is whether:

  1. The word "pisidénte" already existed in this form prior to the play, or
  2. It was coined from Portuguese presidente as a semi-prediction of how early Macanese would have borrowed the word into their local dialect, later language, for use in this specific play.

Think about it. Macau has never had any presidents of its own. Therefore the need for this word (I don't think) ever really arose. Let me know if you speak Macanese and you have heard "pisidénte" said before the 90s. Insaneguy1083 (talk) 06:50, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
