Etymology[edit]

Actually from poet +‎ -ry isn't it? Not from the Latin poesia or the Old French poesie, or from the Ancient Greek. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:13, 13 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I came here after reading the English Wikipedia article "Poet", which says that it's from Latin poetria, meaning "poetess", which is from the same root of course. Comments? πr2 (talk • changes) 04:09, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
