Woodland[edit]

There are lot of woods in Cheshire, England, called Something Rough. Presumably "rough" is a local name for woodland, but I can't find a source for this. Bazonka (talk) 21:09, 23 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Chambers 1908 also defines it as "stale", though it might be (almost) the same as our sense of "harsh-tasting: rough wine"...? Equinox 10:48, 14 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
