I would like to comment that this word is often used by the media as a synonym for "close", e.g. : "Chicago to shutter dozens of schools" -- http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/21/us/illinois-chicago-school-closures/index.html . If someone comes along here and adds that definition, will the next person please revert or leave a note saying the usage is incorrect. 72.177.123.145 13:51, 23 March 2013 (UTC) EricReply

If it's "often used", it's real according to our Criteria For Inclusion. What leads you to say the usage is incorrect, aside from it being a bit stale and clichéd? Chuck Entz (talk) 14:34, 23 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Missing verb sense, relating to cameras?[edit]

What does this mean exactly? Is it a standard usage? If so, we're missing it. Equinox 03:06, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Every spring, the quad on the University of Washington (UW) campus transforms from a peaceful green space to a bustling habitat for hundreds of shuttering cameras, families, and onlookers.
