As I wrote on talk:camel, i wonder if this phrase comes from an earlier use of camel to mean someone who can hold their urine for a long period of time (useful on car trips, with certain jobs, etc). It's never *pee camel or anything like that so far as I know, just camel. Thus hard to search for, but still, I've heard it in person, and as I said on the other page one can find a few uses of phrases like "some people are camels" online.
