It's just dawned on me that this was probably never a standard form, but is supposed to represent a Cockney pronunciation. One of Dickens' Sketches by Boz has a similar use of "srimp" for "shrimp". Equinox ◑ 23:09, 19 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
