Sterkte is one of those words that exists in Dutch and Afrikaans but not in English. I just used it with a cousin: her mother passed away and she is dealing with all the tasks that go with that, including caring for her father. Literally translated as "strength", it's a way to say "good luck" and "May God grant you strength"; it conveys a lot in a single word.
