This word exists only as singular and has no diminutive. To my knowledge, anyway. Can someone double-check and use the correct format for fixing? Because I have no idea how to apply the latter changes. Rubykuby (talk) 14:38, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

{{nl-noun|n|-|-}} where 'n' is neuter. Mglovesfun (talk) 14:58, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Prepositions[edit]

Which prepositions are used with the Dutch verb? — Ungoliant (falai) 16:49, 10 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Ungoliant MMDCCLXIV: In the sense "to strive for, to strive towards" (to an ideal, or in a directional sense): naar and tot in front of nominals and pronouns, om in front of verbs. Sometimes voor is used to indicate someone or something that benefits, but streven is more often than not a gerund or a noun in those cases. Streven tegen (or jegens in older texts) can also be used to mean "to oppose", though the intransitive verb tegenstreven with indirect object is more common in that sense. Streven door has been used for "to move through, to traverse" until the 19th century, but that's obsolete now (through probably still readily understood if the context is sufficiently clear).
