Deep South synonym for swear: swunny[edit]
My grandmother, who was from the Piedmont area of North Carolina, sometimes used the phrase, "Well, I swunny!". She is the only person I ever heard use the word "swunny", but from a quick search of the web, I can see that there are other people throughout the Deep South who still use this word today. Can anyone else comment on this? I would like to see an entry in Wiktionary for this word. My father used to say "I swunny" when he was working on something and couldn't make a screw or part fit properly. Obviously, a swear word without venturing to the more obnoxious or objectionable four letter words.
