I just learned that in Russia, there is a similar saying, with sarcasm: "Every joke has a shred of joke to it", meaning of course, that every joke is mostly truth!

Yes, that's right. It goes "в каждой шутке есть доля шутки". It's not considered a standard proverb, though, doesn't fit here as a translation and is usually used jokingly. --Anatoli ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 12:29, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
