I was wondering about the etymology of the primary English sense of the word, as a slang synonym for crystal meth. I found this old Google Answer, but I'm not sure if it classes as a suitable source. Guidance, or more authoritative sources, would be welcome. Hv (talk) 20:25, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

- drug name -> shortened form -> girl's name -> possible shortened form; examples: (1) marijuana -> m. j. -> Mary Jane (2) crystal methamphetamine -> crystal meth -> Christina -> Tina
- 1/16th of an ounce: a common amount to buy. "Teenth" became "Tina".
- First and last syllables, Crystal methamphetamine, = Christine = Tina.
- ("Crystine" and "Christine" are both pronounced as /kɹɪstiːn/)
