Robert Elsie is not a linguist and what he thinks about the etymology of dhampir is irrelevant. It is phonetically impossible for dhampir to be derived from Slavic *ypir (what does this word mean in Slavic anyway?), while this term was spreaded in the world through Romanian vampir. The Albanian term has the most thorough etymology and phonetically Romanian vampire reflects perfectly Albanian dhampir (its original source).Etimo (talk) 21:37, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

"increased night vision"

Previously, sense 2 was "(colloquial) A person with the medical condition Systemic lupus erythematosus, colloquially known as vampirism, with effects such as photosensitivity, brownish-red stained teeth, and increased night vision."

I can find nothing to substantiate the claim about increased night vision being associated with SLE. On the contrary, the disease poses a threat to people's (day and night) vision. The main sources I checked were:
