Talk:washhouse

A Washhouse isn't always an outbuilding. At least in New Zealand the room with the washing machine and dryer and assorted items for washing clothes will be called "the washhouse"

Here's an instance in the Otago Daily Times:

"She said she had closed the door between the kitchen and the hallway leading to the washhouse when she started the drier a short time earlier and was told by firefighters her actions had saved the rest of the house. "

You can tell from context they're talking about a room in the house.
