Large expanse of water??[edit]

I see no justification for "vast expanse of water" quoted as an example for "waste." An ocean hardly counts as a wasteland, are there any literary quotes for this definition?

If anyone reads this and it's unanswered, please delete that definition as it's highly unlikely I'll visit here again!
