Achuar-Shiwiar[edit]

I propose we change {{acu}} from "Achuar-Shiwiar" to "Achuar", which seems to be a much more common name. - -sche (discuss) 00:07, 15 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Alternatively, we could rename it "Shuar", which is also very commonly used as the name of the language. But the hyphenated form is rare, and many of the Google Books hits it gets are actually "Achuar (Shiwiar)". - -sche (discuss) 05:40, 22 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
I always assumed before I went to Latin America that the Achuar and the Shuar were the same ethnolinguistic group, but they're actually very different. In fact, the Shuar's traditional enemies are the Achaur and the sloths, both of which they used to headhunt extensively. Shuar is {{jiv}}, so it cannot be renamed to that; Achuar is the best option. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:12, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Nice insight! I've renamed it accordingly. - -sche (discuss) 20:38, 27 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
