Verb stems ending in /ʃ, t͡ʃ/[edit]

This template doesn't work for all forms of verbs stems ending in /ʃ, t͡ʃ/ due to the fact that those sounds are spelt si and tsi respectively before all vowels except i, where they're sh and tsh. See cwtsio where the forms *cwtsi, *cwtsir, *cwtsit, *cwtsid should be spelt cwtshi, cwtshir, cwtshit, cwtshid. Can this be fixed? Llusiduonbach (talk) 21:57, 2 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Llusiduonbach: Since this template creates the table directly, rather than being dependent on a module, there's probably no way to get it to recognize the context automatically. Maybe we could add a new parameter for both this case and the one mentioned below, e.g. |final=h for cwtsio and |final=i for copïo. —Mahāgaja · talk 19:23, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Llusiduonbach: Take a look at cwtsio and copïo now; are they right? —Mahāgaja · talk 20:18, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mahagaja: That's great! Seeing as you're in the know, are you able to take a look at this too? The adjective template consistently produces incorrect forms. Thanks for your help. Llusiduonbach (talk) 08:21, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Llusiduonbach: Are there other verbs that need |final=h? The others whose 1st sg. form ends in -siaf that I could find are: bocsio, ceisio, croesi, dawnsio, lleisio, pleidleisio, sgwrsio, and treisio. Do any of them become -shi, -shir, etc.? Also, bendithio, corfflunio, cuddio, and ffermio were previously using {{cy-conj-cons}} as if they ended in -ïo with a persistently syllabic i. Am I correct in shifting them all over to this template without |final=i, i.e. do they all actually end in /jɔ/ and not /ˈi.ɔ/? —Mahāgaja · talk 10:46, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mahagaja: You'd only need |final=h for verb stems ending in genuine/original /ʃ, t͡ʃ/, so some borrowed and possibly onomatopoeic words. Others such as the ones you mentioned derived their /ʃ/ from /sj/ (/sj/ is still used in some dialects for some words), so their forms with added -iC have an /s/ and don't need |final=h. You're right about bendithio, corfflunio, cuddio, and ffermio, they're /jɔ/ and not /ˈiː.ɔ/. Llusiduonbach (talk) 14:13, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Llusiduonbach: So of the verbs listed at [1], only cwtsio needs the h, right? —Mahāgaja · talk 14:20, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mahagaja: Correct! Llusiduonbach (talk) 14:26, 4 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Verb stems ending in "ï"[edit]

I've noticed another mistake. Verb stems ending in ï don't work fully with this template either. See copïo where the forms *copïi, *copïir, *copïit, *copïid should be spelt copii, copiir, copiit, copiid. Llusiduonbach (talk) 12:47, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

See above. —Mahāgaja · talk 19:23, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Actually, copïo is using {{cy-conj-cons}}, not this template, but adding a parameter as I mentioned above could fix things so that it could. —Mahāgaja · talk 19:33, 3 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
