- (Friesland) FIrst attested as t Uyt Eynde in 1718. Calque of West Frisian It Utein, a compound of út (“outer, out-”) and ein (“end”).
- (Groningen) First attested as jn wtende in 1445. Derived from uit (“outer, out-”) and einde (“end, edge”).
