Now that's the term I was trying to find — handholding, although I only see that one defined positively (not perjoratively, which is how I've seen it in a few articles). I tried hold hands and various other versions of the term, but as for cites, I'll look for some and then define appropriately. One tenative one — it's not a source yet, as I need to read it — is "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Handling Difficult Employees," by Robert Bacal and published in 2000.
