• Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
• Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
• If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
• If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
• Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.

Citations pages

Hi. Belated reply! You asked, "Is it generally permissible/recommended to create such a page when listing words at WT:REE?" I don't know if we have specific rules about this. My own practice is to create a Citations page instead of an entry if I want to document the usage of a word/phrase but not to create an entry for some reason (which usually means I think it's a fun or interesting word but feel sure it can't meet our WT:CFI requirements). If it's a very new word that might either catch on or die unused (and we can't know yet), then an entry with the hot word template is a possibility (see e.g. lemoga). Personally I would feel a bit disapproving about Citations pages for single usages/nonce-words, as they seem like a waste of space unlikely to become a real entry; but I suppose they can't hurt. Thanks Equinox. I was thinking mostly of circumstances where I've come across a word that lacks an entry, and am able to list a few uses, but wouldn't necessarily want to venture a definition myself. So I'll try to do that if I find myself in that situation in future. (And thanks also for alerting me to the existence of lemoga – we certainly live in interesting times.) The rfdef template (request for definition) exists too, if you want to add citations within an entry but you don't want to write the definition. Wonderfool tends to abuse this one :D so I would urge you at least to put some notes about what you think it means inside a comment, like {{rfdef|lang=en}} <!--something from particle physics?-->, and only use it if you are pretty certain there is really a separate missing sense.
