Romaji

Are you sure it's necessary to apply the CFI to romaji entries? Wiktionary:Transliteration says "As for whether to create transliteration articles (redirecting or pointing to the non-transliterated form) for the benefit of beginner students, the decision should be made individually for each language, on a language considerations page." I don't see any clear statement at Wiktionary:About Japanese, but it seems to me that Japanese is a particularly good case for including transliterated entries - it would certainly make wiktionary much more useful for me. Thanks for the update, Kappa. CFI is one of the more challenging aspects of Wikimedia projects. Anyway, I will revoke my CFI-based RfD's for the romaji and kana entries. I will also request comments in Wiktionary Talk:About Japanese to ensure that it is OK to add a note to Wiktionary:About Japanese regarding modified CFI for romaji and kana entries. compactDocToc for template documentation

At Wikipedia, the usual way to structure template talk pages is to use {{compactDocToc}} to keep the documentation visible as the count of discussion topics grows. Is there a different standard format for Wiktionary template documentation? Rodasmith 21:23, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't know for sure.  Some of the more experienced people around here could tell you.  I guess I just thought the TOC down in the middle looked really dumb since it was after the documentation, but included the headings from the documentation.  I guess it's nothing I'm willing to have a big fight over, I just thought it looked really lame. — V-ball 04:11, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

Verbal adjective

That might not be the correct phrase (I got 4 hours of sleep last night; I'm not 100%), but there's a difference between redeemed as in "I redeemed myself when I went to church" and "Jesus has blessed that dude; he is redeemed." I think. --Rory096

I didn't know where to look for those templates, so thanks for the pointer to that category. I did happen to know about {{archaic}}, so I used {{subst:archaic}}. Should I not have used subst? Rodasmith 21:15, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Months and Days

Hi, Roda. Would you mind having a look at the Appendices for Appendix:Months of the Year and Appendix:Days of the Week and be sure that both pages include the appropriate Japanese entries? Also, some of these basic entries may be missing from Wiktionary. Kappa has already helped to created the Korean ones, and I'll be looking for others to help in additional languages. Recent anon contribs

Thank you for taking this on!

Most sysops do try to visit several of the WT:DW tasks, but very few are claimed. When I used to have time to monitor the anon contribs, I found it very useful to start at the bottom of the list of two thousand changes. Those would be several days old, and therefore much less likely to provoke backlash. Tring to stay on top of current changes is much harder, as the vandals are still lurking about to see that their changes will actually be kept.

I wish you the best of luck. I hope you can stick with it. Remember to take lots of breaks from it so you don't burnout.

As for a specific comment, Apple of Discord I would've marked as "rfc" or "wikify", not "rfv". But I suppose that works, just as well.

Category:English verbs?

Nice work but I think there is still a problem with the new smart code: 2-item lists have a different CSS class since the serial comma is forced into use as non-optional comma in this case. Also there seems to be extra space(s) between the final comma and final element - though this could be either a browser issue or a template compaction issue. Did you try it with all three see also list formatting options in your CSS? I'll try to do that but I'm in the middle of some other tricky things right now. Ok I got around to checking and the current see template does indeed result in "See also vän, and Van" - there should be no comma there. Try putting the CSS code for this format in your css. Maybe you can tweak see to output "disambig-see-also-2" in the 2-item case, or maybe you can find some other CSS logic that doesn't require two versions of the div class. — Hippietrail 03:43, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

And 2 more problems. You've got "disambig-see-also2" instead of "disambig-see-also-2". The second problem is you're using the ..2 version even with 1-item lists - but that might not be a problem as long as it all works right. — Hippietrail 04:24, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
