Invitation to contribute

Hi,

You might or might not already be aware that there is now a new system in place for marking translations that need to be checked (those that are suspected of being incorrect or those where it is not clear which sense(s) of a word the translations apply to). (See here for the Beer parlour discussion on this topic.)

Translations to be checked are now categorised by language. For example, Category:Translations_to_be_checked_(French) contains a list of all words where French translations need to be checked. This is designed to make the checking of these translations easier to maintain and work with.

I'm contacting everyone who has expressed an interest in working on translations or has indicated in Wiktionary:Babel that they have a good knowledge of a particular foreign language or languages.

Would you be interested in helping out with the translations to be checked for Swedish? If so, please read the page on how to check translations.

svarad/besvarad

Isn't there a difference between these words, would you say? To me, it seems as "svara" and its inflections concerns persons (Jag svarades av två personer samtidigt) while "besvara" concerns actions or the question: (Frågan besvarades av två personer samtidigt). Does this distinction really disappear in perfekt participle? I agree that "svarad" is very rare, but I'm not certain if I would identify it with "besvarad", though... \Mike 16:53, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

keeper

Hi ... If Keeper is a separate page, it does raise the issue of whether it should exist at all: a minor variant of an English word used in one work of fiction (however significant) doesn't usually rate a Wiktionary entry.

But: combining goalkeeper and wicket-keeper is brilliant! Now we can do away with the football/soccer dispute! (Have you read the section on WT:RFC?) It should be sports, and use the template. I'll go do that, you see what I did. Thanks! Robert Ullmann 09:23, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey! I'm a Harry Potter fan! Note there is a sports template, rather than using cattag|sports. I think the idea is that cattag shouldn't ever appear directly in a page now. BTW, I've read your notes on sv- templates. I've started working on sw- (Swahili) templates, making an sw-noun out of Rod Smith's en-noun template.
