Etymology[edit]

Modelled on cowherd, shepherd, etc., as though the computers were animals, probably from the similarity of VAXen to oxen through oxherd.

VAXherd (plural VAXherds)

  1. (computing, humorous, slang) A sysadmin who works with VAX computers.
