Luxembourgish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Middle High German windel, from Old High German wintila. Cognate with German Windel. Intervocalic -nd- regularly yields Luxembourgish -nn-, but the -d- was reinserted here as a linking sound between the two sonorants (compare Spëndel).
