Why I proposed this[edit]

Currently, this is what one must do on an appendix page to get it to function correctly: ((en-noun|((apdx-l|plural)))) (replace parentheses with curly brackets), which is more complicated than it needs to be. Templates should automatically link to an appendix page if within an appendix. Otherwise, they will function as normal in the main namespace. Netizen3102 (talk) 19:23, 15 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Netizen3102 could you please provide a few examples of where this workaround is being used today (in the vote description)? Maybe I just haven't come across this, but I'm having a hard time understanding the use case. Thanks! Chernorizets (talk) 00:23, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Appendix:Minecraft/illager#English|Here is an example of a page that has a regular plural but is marked as irregular due to the current structure of the noun template. Netizen3102 (talk) 06:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Netizen3102 should it be part of your proposal for such appendix-only words to not show up in categories like "English nouns"? Right now "illager" shows up in there. Chernorizets (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

What exactly is the proposal?[edit]

What would be modified? Right now the proposal reads like a summary of how things currently are, and it's unclear to me what a "support" vote would be in support of changing. Is this a vote to create or modify templates for the Appendix namespace? If so, what exactly would be created or modified? (Also, we don't need a vote for that.) Is this a vote for something else? I would reword this proposal to have it clearly reflect the change that you are seeking. Megathonic (talk) 15:46, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

According to their BP discussion, Netizen3102 wants templates like {{en-noun}} to link to an entry in the Appendix automatically for plural forms and the like when invoked in the Appendix. But either way someone is going to need to implement this in code, for every relevant POS template, and I'm not sure this will happen more quickly by spending a month on a vote first. It is also very much a nice-to-have and not an essential feature. —Al-Muqanna المقنع (talk) 17:08, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
