  1. I don't know you too well Tim, but I was wondering why you are requesting CU status as opposed to Admin status, the "usual" first mop most folks pickup. Do you have CU status elsewhere? Admin/crat status elsewhere? (Please don't read these questions as anything other than me being inquisitive :) - [The]DaveRoss 22:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I thought a request for adminship would not be successful since I am quite new here but CU could also be helpful to Wiktionary and might be a first step to getting adminship. I don't have adminship or CU elsewhere. Tim Q. Wells 22:46, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Generally adminship requires only that one has proven one's motives are good, and that one has an understanding of the way Wiktionary works and a desire to help out. With a few months behind your belt and a pile of edits, you would probably be a great candidate for that role, which is something like a first step toward other roles, such as crat, and CU. Admins are mainly hall monitors and janitors, more often janitors though, whereas checkusers are given access to information about users which is kept strictly confidential from the rest of the Wiki population, and hence requires a deal of confidence from the community. - [The]DaveRoss 01:06, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Your comment that CU is a step after adminship is convincing, so I will withdraw this request. Tim Q. Wells 01:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
